From different lens types to additional coatings, what’s best for you will depend on things such as your lifestyle, job, preference, and eye health needs. Have a look below at the lens varieties we offer, including their benefits and prices.
This lens type has just a single prescription that covers the entire lens. Typically for people who either short-sighted or long-sighted, who just need glasses for driving, using a computer or reading.
People under 40 years mostly choose this single vision lens as they’re more likely to have just just a single prescription.
Our expert opticians will be able to advise on the best lens option to suit your needs.
Single-vision lenses are free with all frames
If you have a separate prescription for reading and long distance, you may find that bifocals are a good option for you. This means that instead of having 2 separate pairs with one for close-up and the other for driving/ watching TV, a bifocal pair can do both.
Rather than having two separate pairs of single-vision glasses, bifocal lenses can be a more convenient solution as they combine both visual needs into one pair of glasses. This saves you from having to switch from one pair to the next!
Bifocals are made up bonding the 2 different prescriptions into one lens, which creates a thin visible line at the lower part of the lens where the reading vision starts.
Prices from £45
Similar to bifocals, these lenses are used if you need different prescriptions in one lens. The main difference between bifocals and varifocals are that varifocals accommodate more than two vision types; unlike the clear distinction on bifocals, they have invisible sections for viewing close-up, far away and everything in between. This means there isn’t a line on the lens, yet you still have the freedom to see clearly at all distances, including intermediate vision, used for computer use or reading sheet music.
Varifocal lenses work by changing prescription from the top to the bottom of the lens. Moving your eyes up and down the lens gives you clear vision at all distances. This means if you’re using a cash machine, you’d be able to view the keys, screen, your card and then continue to walk down the street with clarity.
